Recipe: Lighter Lasagna

Every year, we all seem to want something warm and heavy for dinner as the days get shorter and the nights get colder. This recipe lets you enjoy the taste of comfort food, while still being healthy and good for your body. Using turkey sausage instead of pork lightens up this winter favorite and adding SoL makes for a creamier dish, yet it’s still lighter than most recipes!

 Ingredients:

>1/2  lb turkey sausage
1/8 cup SoL Unsweetened Sunflower Beverage
1/2  lb lean ground turkey
6 lasagna noodles
8oz ricotta cheese
3oz low-fat mozzarella cheese, sliced
3oz parmesan cheese, grated
1/2  tsp Italian seasoning
1/4  cup onion, diced
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 clove garlic, minced
1 Tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
14oz crushed tomatoes
6oz tomato paste
6.5oz tomato sauce
1/8 cup water
3/4  tsp basil leaves, dried
1/4  tsp fennel seeds
